Questions Worth Asking
Far infrared saunas use radiant heat panels to warm the body directly rather than heating the surrounding air, which allows for lower ambient temperatures while still supporting a full thermal session. This makes infrared sessions more accessible for longer durations and easier to integrate into a daily recovery practice. The technology is well-suited to home environments where control, efficiency, and consistency matter.
Most 2-person infrared sauna units require a dedicated footprint of roughly 4 by 4 feet, with additional clearance recommended around all sides for ventilation and access. A standard 120V household outlet is typically sufficient for units in the 2000W range, though confirming your electrical setup in advance is advisable. Assembly is completed by the customer using included components and instructions.
EMF refers to electromagnetic field emissions produced by the heating elements inside an infrared sauna. Low-EMF heating panels are designed to minimize these emissions, which is a meaningful consideration for those using their sauna on a daily or near-daily basis over the long term. It reflects the same attention to build quality and long-term use that informs the rest of a serious recovery setup.
LuxAthletix offers free shipping on most orders within the Continental U.S., excluding Alaska and Hawaii. About Our Saunas
Home infrared saunas occupy a distinct place in a serious recovery environment. Unlike conventional steam saunas, far infrared models use radiant panel technology to deliver targeted thermal exposure at lower ambient temperatures, making them practical for regular use within a residential setting. The result is a recovery modality that can be built into daily life rather than reserved for occasional visits to an external facility. When choosing a home sauna, build quality and materials matter considerably. Canadian Hemlock is a preferred wood species for its dimensional stability, low resin content, and clean performance under sustained heat. Heating output, EMF ratings, enclosure size, and connectivity features all factor into how well a unit performs over years of consistent use. The right sauna is not the largest or the most featured — it is the one designed to match your space, your schedule, and the standard you hold for the equipment around you. For those who treat recovery as a non-negotiable part of sustained performance, a well-selected home sauna is infrastructure, not indulgence.
